It is accented by belted cows and goats, surrounded by quaint architecture, and the flowers should be at the height of their bloom. There are nearby fields for those who wish to have a more panoramic view. Two cafes on site are perfect gathering areas for lunch and snacks. We usually gather for lunch around noon.

Chatham County -- 2698 Hanks Chapel Road, Pittsboro.  My business is also located on this property, the Orchid Gallery.  We are commercial orchid growers and anyone who would like to visit the greenhouses is invited  to take photos to use as references for future paintings. The plein air part will be my farm which consists of a barn, some pole sheds, good vistas from some of the hills, and some gardens (hopefully there will still be some late-blooming perennials worthy of painting.

For directions, please go to
www.orchidgallery.org.  We’re in the eastern part of Chatham County, so it shouldn’t be too far a drive for those in Apex, Cary & Raleigh.  Feel free to call me with questions (542-6076).

Traveling to Morehead City on 70 west, from New Bern, as soon as one approaches Morehead City, there will be a large shopping center on the right and a sign for highway 24 to Cape Carteret.   Continue on highway 24 until you get to the intersection of 24 and highway 58.  Turn left at the stoplight and get IMMEDIATELY in the right-hand lane.    The Visitor’s Center will be on your right.   We will meet at the Visitors’ Center at 9:30 and will paint as long as you want to paint!  There is also shade and a few picnic tables so painters are encouraged to bring their lunches if they’d like.   There are restaurants nearby in Cedar Point and Emerald Isle (just across the bridge), as well as fast food restaurants at Cape Carteret.  My cell phone number is 252-341-5495.
